A Associação Ecológica Amigos dos Açores é uma associação que tem por fim defender e valorizar o ambiente, bem como promover a conservação da natureza, privilegiando para isso métodos de trabalho e de intervenção não violentos, através de actividades de carácter cultural, pedagógico, científico, desportivo, recreativo, social ou outro afim.

O logótipo da Associação é representado por dois Priôlos, espécie Pyrhula murina: - É uma das espécies de aves mais raras, constituindo uma verdadeira relíquia do património natural dos Açores e da Europa; - A alimentação está associada à comunidade vegetal endémica, com destaque para o azevinho, a uva da serra, a ginja do mato e alguns fetos; - O efectivo populacional é muito reduzido (cerca de 100 casais), existindo apenas na parte Este da Ilha de São Miguel, sobretudo na Serra da Tronqueira e vale da Ribeira do Guilherme.

 The Ecological Association Amigos dos Açores is an organisation whose main goal is to defend and value the environment, as well as to promote the conservation of nature, privileging, for that matter, methods of non violent work and intervention, through cultural, pedagogical, scientific, sportive, recreational, social or any other similar activities.

The Association’s logotype is represented by two bullfinches of the Pyrhula murina species: - This species of birds is one of the rarest and, therefore, is a precious relic of the natural heritage of the Azores and Europe; - Its diet is associated to the endemic vegetal community, with prominence for the holly (Ilex perado ssp. Azorica), the cranberry (Vaccinium cylindraceum), the Portuguese Cherry Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) and some ferns; - the current population is very diminished (about 100 couples), existing only on the east side of the Island of S. Miguel, particularly at Serra da Tronqueira and Ribeira do Guilherme valley.

 Das Ziel der Umweltorganisation „Amigos dos Açores“ ist es, die Umwelt schätzen und den Naturschutz zu fördern. Die Organisation arbeitet mit nicht-öffentlichen Interventionsmethoden und übt kulturelle, pädagogische, wissenschaftliche, sportliche, und Freizeitaktivitäten aus. Das Logo der Organisation sind zwei Vögel, Priolos (oder Azoren- oder São-Miguel-Gimpel) genannt die zur Spezie Pyrhula murina gehören: -Der Priolo ist einer der seltensten Vögel, der ein kostbares Naturerbe der Azoren und Europas ist; -Er ernährt sich von endemischen Pflanzen und mit Vorliebe von der Azoren-Stechpalme, vom Heidelbeerbaum, vom portugiesischen Kirschlorbeer und von einigen Farnen; -Der Bestand des Priolo ist bedrohlich klein (ca. 100 Pärchen) und sein Verbreitungsgebiet ist heute nur noch die Serra da Tronqueira und das Flusstal Ribeira do Guilherme im Ostern der Insel São Miguel.
